“Ross” (1941)

One of Hamilton’s most popular pre-war models.

The Ross has become one of the most popular of Hamilton’s pre-war models. Though this watch is nearly 70 years old, the styling remains vital and relevant. The classic simplicity is complemented by the use of fine materials — a 14K yellow gold filled case, 18K gold hands and applied rhodium numerals.

The watch is powered by Hamilton’s exemplary 982 movement — a high quality 19 jewel movement widely recognized for its accuracy and durability. The watch was manufactured in relatively small numbers from 1938 to 1941. This particular watch dates to 1941, based on the movement serial number.

The case of this watch was manufactured for Hamilton by Wadsworth. It is 14K yellow gold filled, both bezel and back. The case is in Excellent condition with no brassing or wear through (wear through on the case back corners is a common issue with this model). The case back of this watch has an inscription: “Margaret to Bill, 11-15-42.”

Note that this watch is relatively small (24mm x 37mm) by modern watch standards and can be worn comfortably by men or women. We’ve added a new old stock pigskin band — matching the band originally issued with this watch.

The watch is currently running strong with good reserve. We have not serviced this watch. While it is running well now, we would encourage you to have it serviced to ensure you get the longest pleasure from this vintage piece.
