The Model 4824 is one of the most striking of the Lord Elgin designs of the mid-1950s. With hidden lugs and a minimalist two tone dial, the design exhibits a timeless style that is still relevant today. This watch has a 14K gold filled case with a high quality 21 jewel calibre 680 movement. This watch is in Very Good condition.
The bezel and back are both 14K yellow gold filled and show no evidence of brassing or wear through. There is some minor pitting on the back of the watch, but it is shallow and does not go through the gold fill. There is some minor scratching on the bezel. The dial is in Very Good condition with a radial textured surface and raised gold markers and applied numbers. There is some minor spotting around the 8, 9 and 12 o’clock areas. The gold daggar hands are without rust. The plastic crystal is a replacement and is unscratched. The watch runs well and keeps good time. There is an inscription on the back: “W.T.R. 9-28-56.”
The watch is complimented by a beautiful Italian calfskin Hadley Roma band. This is a medium-sized band (regular). The watch is ready to wear.
We don’t know the service history of this watch and it has not been serviced while in our possession. While the watch is keeping very good time right now, you will probably want to have a jeweler clean, oil, and adjust the watch to get the greatest accuracy and the longest enjoyment from your vintage watch.
