Lord Elgin Model 4804A (1942)

One of the last of the pre-War Lord Elgins.

This vintage Lord Elgin wrist watch was one of the last consumer watches produced prior to World War 2. At the time this was made, production was shifting away from the consumer market in order to supply military demand. The watch shows styling clearly derived from the design of some of the watches Elgin was making for the military.

The watch is a Model 4804A and shows typical Lord Elgin quality — a 14K gold filled case and a 21 jewel movement. This particular example is all original  and in Very Good condition. The case has no brassing or wear through and the case back fits tight with a nice snap.

The dial is in Excellent condition with only the slightest patina. The hands are also in Very Good condition. The watch looks great and includes a (gently) used vintage expansion metal band that matches nicely.

The watch is powered by Elgin’s 556 caliber 21 jewel movement. It winds, sets and runs properly and has an excellent reserve.

We have not serviced this watch while in our possession and while it is running well at this point, we encourage all customers to service their vintage watches to assure accuracy and get the most enjoyment from the watches.
