Lord Elgin 4621 “Sabre” (1952)

Classic Lord Elgin with bold styling.

The Lord Elgin Sabre is one of the most recognizable of the early 1950s designs. The curved, almost hourglass shaped, case and and unusual shaped lugs were unique in the Elgin line — and still look good today. This watch came in either white or yellow gold and with either a white or black dial. This example is the less common black dial and white gold combination — in our opinion, the most striking variation.

The watch has a 14K white gold filled case, both bezel and back. The case on this watch is in Excellent condition with no brassing or wear through. The black dial is similarly in Excellent condition with no spotting to mar the appearance. The applied numerals and markers and the hands are free from oxidation.

The movement is Elgin’s high quality 670 movement; a reliable 21 jewel movement that powered many of their better watches in this period. The watch winds and sets easily and is running well and keeping good time.

The watch has a gently used expansion band that complements the watch nicely. You will notice some minor spotting in the photos. Let us know if you intend to to keep the band on the watch and if so, we will touch it for you before it goes out.

Note that this watch has not been serviced while in our possession and we do not know the service history of this piece. While it is running well and keeping good time now we do advise all vintage watch owners to have their watches regularly serviced to assure the longest enjoyment.
