Hamilton “Elliott” (1937)

A hard to find vintage Hamilton, suitable as a ladies’ watch.

The Elliott was one of Hamilton’s smallest men’s models, dating back to the days when wrist watches were just becoming fashionable and watchmakers were still trying to figure out what people wanted. By today’s styles, this is suitable as a women’s watch. That said, by anyone’s standards, this is a very nice vintage watch, exhibiting classic styling. This particular example of the Elliott is in Excellent condition and is all original (except for the band).

The watch has a very nice 14K yellow gold filled case. It is signed Hamilton. The case has no brassing or wear through – it’s a remarkable survivor.

The dial shows a light patina appropriate for its age. The black painted numbers are very nice and reflect the fashion of the day. The hands are in Very Good condition. The original crystal is still on this watch and is without chips or cracks. There are some very light scratches on the crystal but they do not impact the watch.

The movement is Hamilton’s classic 17 jewel 980 caliber. It winds, sets and runs. The watch is keeping good time, but has not been serviced while in our possession.

We’ve added a new leather band to the watch and it is ready for wear.

The service history of this watch is not known. It has not been serviced while in my possession. While it is currently running good and keeping excellent time, I would advise you to have the watch taken to a jeweler to have it cleaned, oil and adjusted; this will help ensure a long and useful life for your vintage watch.
