Hamilton “Trent” (1955)

Classic 50s styling with a high quality Hamilton 22 jewel movement.

Understated Hamilton style combined with their highest quality movement, the “Trent” was introduced in 1955 and produced for several years thereafter. This watch is a great example of a classic Trent, with a new leather band.

The watch is in Very Good to Excellent condition. The off-white dial has applied gold numbers and sticks on a satin finish. There are a few lights spots on the dial, particularly in the top right quadrant. (These marks appear much more prominent in the photos, above. In person, they are hardly noticeable). The high-domed crystal is plastic and without scratches. The bezel is 10K yellow gold filled. The bezel has no brassing, but you can see some scratching with a loupe. There is also a very small ding on the left side of the bezel, near the 10 o’clock marker. The back is stainless steel and free from marks.

The watch is powered by Hamilton’s 22 jewel 770 movement – widely considered to be the finest of the American made manual wind movements.  The watch is running strong and keeping excellent time.

For the band of this watch, we found a new leather band with a faux crocodile grain.

The service history of this watch is unknown and it has not been serviced while in our possession. While the watch is keeping very good time right now, you will probably want to have a jeweler clean, oil, and adjust the watch to get the greatest accuracy and the longest enjoyment from your vintage watch.
